Biography

Jonathan was born in the West of Ireland but moved to London with his family in 1988 at the age of 12. He attended St Martin’s Art College between 1995 and 1996 where he completed his Foundation Studies in Art and Design. It wasn’t until 2001 that Jonathan decided to become a practising artist, when, after 2 years building up a body of work, he presented his first solo exhibition with the support of the Prince’s Trust in 2003. Since 2003 Jonathan has had a number of solo exhibitions, and has also been involved in a series of group shows in Britain and in Ireland. Currently Jonathan is working on a number of visual art projects in relation to the development of the Cultural Olympiad. Jonathan is also participating in a touring exhibition for 2009, celebrating Irish and Chinese art. The exhibition will begin in Beijing, travelling to England, and finally to Ireland. 2009 will conclude with a solo exhibition of new work which is supported by the Barbican Arts Group Trust. For 2010 Jonathan has been invited by Waltham Forest Borough Council to have a solo exhbition which will be part of the Boroughs Cultural lead up to the Olimpic Games in 2012.
