Biography

Jonathan was born in the West of Ireland but moved to London with his family in 1988 at the age of 12. He attended St Martin’s Art College between 1995 and 1996 where he completed his Foundation Studies in Art and Design. It wasn’t until 2001 that Jonathan decided to become a practicing artist, when, after 2 years building up a body of work, he presented his first solo exhibition with the support of the Prince’s Trust in 2003. Since 2003 Jonathan has had a number of solo exhibitions, and has also been involved in a series of group shows in Britain, Ireland, China.  2010 concluded with a solo exhibition of new work which is supported by Arts Council England, Vestry House Museum and Embassy of Ireland Great Britain. The exhibition was titled London is London, England is England. With the success of the exhibition n Jonathan was invited by the European Commission, London with the support of the Embassy of Ireland Great Britain to exhibit his work.

In July 2011 Jonathan will be curating and exhibiting work alongside Neil Irons at Forman's Smokehouse Gallery, London. The exhibition will be called Culture and Environments, see events page for further details. In addition Jonathan is working on a number of visual art projects in relation to the development of the Cultural Olympiad for 2012.
